Kenneth Zaslav, MD

Ken Zaslav is a Board-certified specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports medicine who had been in practice for 30 years in Richmond Virginia. He is a graduate of The Albert Einstein College of medicine and completed his Orthopedic Residency at Stony Brook University Hospital followed by Sports Medicine Fellowship at NYU after which he served as Shoulder Fellow at Lenox Hill Hospital. He was the founding member of the Sports Medicine and Cartilage Repair Centers at Advanced Orthopedics (Now Ortho Virginia) and a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2020 he returned to his hometown of New York city and joined the full-time faculty practice at Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital Dept of Orthopedic Surgery as the Director of their Center for Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at The Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University and Investigator at The Feinstein Institutes for medical research.

His focus has been on shoulder and knee surgery and well as injuries to athletes and dancers for over 35 years. He has written extensively both on shoulder injuries and sports medicine topics. Most recently over the past decade his clinical research focused on cartilage repair and Joint Preservation and now he is involved in Orthobiologic and Stem cell research. He performed the first Cartilage transplant in Virginia in 1996 and is the Past President of the International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society, a society of clinicians and scientists based in Zurich SW, devoted to clinical and basic science research to preserve joints and function in patients with cartilage injury and early arthritis. He is also a Past Chairman of the Biologic Association based in the US and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, AANA, ICRS and AOSSM.
