David E. Asprinio, M.D., has served for over 20 years as Professor and Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York Medical College and Director of Orthopaedic Surgery for the Westchester Medical Center and Westchester Health Network, while also holding the title of Professor of Pharmacology at New York Medical College. He earned his undergraduate degree from The College of the Holy Cross and his medical degree from the University of Vermont, then completed general surgery training and an orthopaedic residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital, followed by fellowships in orthopaedic trauma at the Hospital for Special Surgery and spine surgery at the University of Maryland. Since joining the faculty of New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center in 1995, he has served as program director of the orthopaedic residency program (2003–2018) and is currently co-director of the Westchester Medical Center–Hospital for Special Surgery Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship. He holds staff privileges at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Westchester Medical Center, and Stamford Hospital, and remains board-certified through 2028. An active clinician, educator, and researcher, Dr. Asprinio is a member of leading professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, AO North America, AO International, and the orthopaedic societies of New York and Connecticut. He has lectured internationally and published extensively in journals such as The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, The Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, and Injury, with ongoing research spanning clinical outcome studies in trauma and spinal pathology as well as basic science investigations into biomechanics and stem cell applications, often conducted in collaboration with medical students and residents.
