Michael Suk, MD, JD, MPH, MBA

Michael Suk is an internationally recognized orthopaedic trauma surgeon whose career has centered on complex fracture care, limb salvage, nonunion, and deformity correction. He completed his residency at Montefiore/Einstein and a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at the Hospital for Special Surgery, experiences that shaped his lifelong commitment to advancing trauma care, systems leadership, and multidisciplinary education worldwide.

Dr. Suk has held major leadership roles in U.S. healthcare, including Chief Physician Officer and Chair of the Musculoskeletal Institute at Geisinger. He is the Immediate Past Chair of the American Medical Association Board of Trustees and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Commissioners at The Joint Commission. He is also a member of the AO North America Board of Directors, reflecting his dedication to global orthopaedic trauma standards and education.

A surgeon-leader with complementary training in law, public health, and business, Dr. Suk has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and speaks internationally on orthopaedic trauma, clinical leadership, and health-system innovation. He continues to teach and operate both domestically and abroad, supporting trauma education and capacity-building in Ghana, Panama, Honduras, and other regions.

Dr. Suk’s career reflects a sustained commitment to advancing orthopaedic trauma care while shaping the broader environment in which surgeons, patients, and health systems can thrive.
