Dr. Motasem “Mo” Refaat is a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma and reconstructive surgeon specializing in complex fractures and periarticular knee reconstruction. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California, Davis Medical Center and advanced fellowship training at the world renowned Harborview Medical Center in orthopedic trauma, focusing on lower extremity reconstruction and post-traumatic deformity correction.

Dr. Refaat’s clinical expertise includes management of high-energy fractures, periarticular injuries around the knee, and biologic and mechanical strategies to optimize bone healing. His research has explored BMP-mediated bone regeneration and implant biocompatibility, with work presented at national and international meetings including the Orthopedic Trauma Association and the International Society for Fracture Repair.

He has been recognized with the Orthopedic Trauma Association Resident Research Grant Award and has authored publications in The American Journal of Orthopedics and ORTHOPEDICS. Dr. Refaat brings an evidence-based and pragmatic approach to complex knee trauma and reconstruction.
