Brian Cunningham, MD

Brian Cunningham is the Vice Chair and Director of Inpatient Orthopaedics at Methodist Hospital, HealthPartners in St. Louis Park, MN. He is also the Director of Ambulatory Surgery for TRIA. He is certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. In October of 2022, Dr. Cunningham was appointed as the Chair of the OTA Practice Management Committee and will serve a 3-year term. Most recently he was elected CFO for the OTA. He also sits on the Health Care Systems Committee for the AAOS and was a member of the Patient Reported Outcomes work group for the AAOS.

His residency in orthopaedic surgery was completed at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center followed by his fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology at the University of California San Francisco and he is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine.

In 2016, Dr. Cunningham founded "The Value Initiative" with a mission to quantify and implement value-based healthcare through research, innovation, policy and technology. He has built this research area with over 100 peer reviewed publications as well as numerous book chapters.
